Therefore ProScan also has a scale to enter the values and to avoid jumps at repeated measurements. For example the steps in a drop test are different to those of the ProScan. If you receive an error message during the measuring process, it is probably because the test strip is lying crooked on the JBL PROSCAN COLORCARD, so that the grey is clearly visible.Įach test has a fixed scale, which enables the allocation of the water values. You can avoid this by correct handling with sideways tapping (do not shake) and a sheet of kitchen roll as an underlay (reflections!).

Each field must be damp/dry with no water stains or wet patches. Excess water and associated reflections can cause a similar effect. Otherwise, erroneous results will occur.Įxample: A white field is darkened by the grey field template and produces a different result. Therefore, the grey must be completely covered. The sum of all colours on a field is included in the colour detection. It must be completely covered with the colour fields on the test strip.īehind this is the method of colour detection. After the JBL PROSCAN test strip has been placed, no grey from the placeholder should be visible on any of the fields. Since app version 4.0, the app catches alignment errors. The notes Top and Bottom serve as additional orientation. On the empty JBL PROSCAN COLORCARD you will find grey fields as placeholders indicating how the test strip should be placed. If this happens the test needs to be started again from the beginning with a new test strip. The measurement must be taken within 10 seconds after the 60 seconds have elapsed. Repeating the measurement or "back" is prevented at this point, as otherwise incorrect measurement values will be obtained. Therefore, since app version 4.0, a 3-second delay has been added to help you achieve correct alignment and always capture correctly.īy tapping the display with your finger, the focusing can also be restarted manually after the 3 seconds. These distortions cause erroneous readings. If the measurement were to start immediately after the time expiry, the capture would have you lifting the smartphone slanted in front of your body. The focusing of the image and thus the measurement of the test strip on the JBL PROSCAN COLORCARD does not start immediately after the 60 seconds have elapsed, and this gives you time to lift the smartphone and position it horizontally to the COLORCARD with the correct image section. The JBL ProScan app is available in the following languages: de, en, fr, nl, es, it, pt, ru, cs, pl, tr and ja. If this were the case, the colours on the colour chart would be illuminated differently. But even more important is that the incidence of light is uniform and does not show partial shadows and partial sunlight. Photographing the test strip on the colour chart should ideally be done in daylight.

Without dripping off, the drops on the colour fields reflect the light too strongly and lead to inaccurate results. It needs to be drained off HORIZONALLY and carefully. When removing the test strip from the water, do not shake it vertically, as the wet colours will then run into the other colour fields. With the nitrite result, experience shows that an additional drop test measurement (with JBL PROAQUATEST NO2 Nitrite) is a good idea if the JBL ProScan result does NOT show 0, as this value needs to be 100% reliable (nitrite is fatally toxic for fish from 0.4 mg/l). Since smartphones provide an automatic white balance, the colour reading is more accurate than if we compare colours with our eyes! If the test is performed correctly, the result is absolutely reliable. Depending on the analysis results in the sections “Aquarium Freshwater” and “Garden Pond” individualised recommendations and hints are given as to which JBL products can help to set the ideal/optimal water values. A repeated scan of the strip leads to different values, since the strip goes on reacting indefinitely.ĭuring the analyses "Aquarium Freshwater" and "Water" the current CO2 content in the water is calculated as an additional bonus.

Note: The test strips are only intended for one measurement each. Water analysis using your smartphone - the new generation
